PowerPhotonic will exhibit at SPIE Photonex and present its new, Variable Beam Shaper, at ‘Manchester Central’ later this month.

PowerPhotonic, designer and manufacturer of freeform, wafer-scale optics, will be exhibiting at SPIE Photonex 2024 and presenting its new, Variable Beam Shaper, designed for laser welding, including of EV battery packs. SPIE Photonex will be held at the Manchester Central Convention Complex, on the 30th and 31st October. As the UK’s premier, photonics systems and processes exhibition, it covers all the latest advances in photonics, quantum, lasers, optics, nanotechnology, and thin film coatings.

Dr. Stephen Kidd, Head of Sales and Marketing at PowerPhotonic, said, “SPIE Photonex is an excellent forum for PowerPhotonic to profile its precision, high power, freeform optics and modules, designed for industrial laser processing, ophthalmology, directed energy, and laser display target markets. I will make a product presentation on our recently launched, highly innovative, Variable Beam Shaper. This is a single optical element which produces different output beam profiles, depending on the diameter of the beam incident on its optic. The one on display at SPIE Photonex uses this principle to dynamically vary its output profile between Gaussian, flat top, or ring. This makes it ideally suited to high-performance welding and the safe manufacture of EV battery packs, as well as other welding, additive manufacturing and surface treatment applications.

“Other products launched this year, also on display, will be our Bessel Beam Generator for the consistent processing and precise cleaving of glass and other transparent materials; and the Coherent Beam Combiner, for high-power applications.”
