PowerPhotonic is a member of Technology Scotland and a supporter of Scotland’s Critical Technologies Supercluster, a partnership between Technology Scotland, Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, the University of Glasgow, and the University of Strathclyde. The Supercluster aims to leverage Scotland’s world-leading expertise and strength in photonics, quantum, semiconductors, connectivity, and sensing markets, boosting economic growth through skills development, investment, support for up-scaling, and internationalisation.

Business Minister, Richard Lochhead, stated that companies across the Critical Technologies Supercluster employ 11,000 skilled workers and generate approximately £4bn in combined annual turnover. The Supercluster aims to grow this to £10bn in 10 years and create 7,000 new jobs. He said, “The Critical Technologies Supercluster has phenomenal potential – both in its role as a strategic driver for economic growth, and in redefining the way we live and work. The Scottish Government is committed to help position Scotland as one of the most innovative small countries in the world, leading the way in research and development.”

Ally McInroy, CEO of Technology Scotland, stated, “The Supercluster has “shared supply chains, market areas and skills pipelines. [It] will shape ambitions in areas such as net zero, smart transport and energy and boost Scotland’s profile on the world stage.”

Dr. Steve Kidd, Head of Sales and Marketing at PowerPhotonic, added, “PowerPhotonic is a long-time supporter of Technology Scotland, which helps to promote Scottish technology capabilities worldwide; influences policy in Scottish and UK government; and enables networking and collaboration between members. The organisation is ideally placed to represent Scottish industrial and academic interest, maximising the potential of the new, Critical Technologies Supercluster.”
