Multi-channel optical communication systems require microlens arrays for coupling between laser sources, fiber and waveguide arrays, optical multiplexing and optical switching. Our microlens arrays are the ideal lens solution, providing a precise and monolithic component for array collimation and coupling. Made from synthetic fused silica, these microlens arrays can be organised in uniform or randomized 1D or 2D arrangements. PowerPhotonic’s direct write process does not require a mask set or custom tooling, which means that customised designs can be commissioned at lower cost than other alternatives. This not only means that development costs are reduced, but new ideas can be tried and performance optimized as a result of in situ testing.
